it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are curious, energetic, and eager to learn—but sitting in hard metal chairs all day can make it tough for them to stay focused and comfortable. With this project, I hope to bring bean bags and floor seats into our classroom to offer flexible seating options that support a more comfortable and engaging learning environment. These alternative seating choices will allow students to move around and choose where they learn best, whether that’s sinking into a bean bag for independent reading or using a floor seat during small group work. When students feel physically comfortable and have a say in their learning space, they are more motivated, more focused, and more likely to take ownership of their education.
My goal with this project is to create a classroom environment that reflects the diverse needs and learning styles of my students.
Many of my students thrive when they are given freedom and flexibility, and providing alternative seating is one small but powerful way to support that. What makes my students special is their resilience and enthusiasm—they come to school each day ready to try their best, even when the circumstances aren’t perfect. These bean bags and floor seats would show them that their comfort and preferences matter, and that learning can be both fun and flexible.
