Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are some of the most determined and inspiring young people you’ll ever meet. Many of them are English Language Learners who are working hard to learn a new language while also tackling everyday challenges. What I love most is how they show up ready to learn, support one another, and bring their unique voices and cultures into the classroom.
This project will help us create a more welcoming, flexible space for small group instruction.
Traditional desks just don’t work for everyone—some students need to move a little, others focus better when they can sit comfortably. Flexible seating, such as wobble stools, gives them the chance to choose what works best for their learning style, which builds confidence and independence.
It’s also about equity. My classroom is full of diverse learners—many from Black, Brown, and immigrant communities—and I want our space to reflect that everyone belongs. When students see that their comfort, culture, and learning needs matter, it sends a powerful message: You are seen, you are valued, and you deserve a space where you can thrive.
