I am a teacher in a low-income school district where all students receive free or reduced lunch. My students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom.
All of my students have learning disabilities.
They struggle academically and socially. My special education students come to my classroom for extra support in reading, writing, and math. My students want to do well and watching them make progress is one of the things I love most about my job. I want to provide my students with learning opportunities that will help them gain confidence, grow as learners, and foster a love of learning.
My Project
Fifth grade is an important year for my students, now more than ever. Not only is it their first year in middle school, but for many of them this year is their first time back in a classroom in over a year.
Flexible seating options will help my students stay motivated and focused on learning.
My special education students struggle to maintain attention and motivation because of their disabilities. Flexible seating will provide my students with the opportunity to complete their work in a comfortable and fun space that works for them and their specific needs.
