Our students are flexible, inquisitive, caring and courageous. My co-teacher and I work in a Montessori, multiage classroom teaching fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students. Our students have always blown us away when faced with new challenges but this year, they've blown us through the atmosphere by showing the world just how flexible they can be. Back in March, we went into "Emergency Learning" when the state shut down for COVID-19. Our students adapted. They kept up with the lessons and continued to learn. Half of our students (and half of the school) have gone into the building under new guidelines this school year for Hybrid Learning, while the rest of us have stayed in Distance Learning. Michelle and I are constantly asking each other how this is real life, not because the world was turned upside down with this pandemic and we're teaching in brand new ways, but because our students have taken it all in stride and haven't missed a beat. These students are focused, engaged, curious, and always up for a challenge.
My Project
These materials will provide students with even more ownership of students' learning in the classroom. When given multiple options, students are more engaged and focused. We strive to help our students do their best learning and I believe that these flexible seating options will help them to succeed!
Our students have proven how flexible they are by adapting to a new world and new education system during this pandemic.
We want to help them continue to use this gift of flexibility in the classroom with these seating options and new books to expand their horizons!
