Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are an ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) classroom that is made up of many different types of learners. Some of the students in this class are classified with special needs, and for some, English is not their first language. Our school is located in a low income area in the Bronx.
Everyone in my classroom works hard to create a positive learning environment.
All the students in our classroom love to learn. We are a hands-on school that incorporates project based learning and technology into the classrooms. Throughout the school day we teach 70 students! We are always trying to find new ways to make learning exciting and fun for our students!
My Project
We are asking for different types of flexible seating options for our students. Not all learners are able to sit at a desk and to work all day long! We have noticed over time that some of our students like to sit on the floor and learn, while others like to bounce while they learn. Having the different types of seating in the classroom allows each child to be comfortable while they are learning and helps them to focus on their task.
Allowing the students to choose different options to help them succeed in the classroom encourages a positive learning environment.
