My 4th graders are enthusiastic, energetic, and ready to learn! They approach each day with open minds and look forward to hands on learning. They attend a low income, Title I school where resources and technology are limited both at home and at school. For many of them, school is a safe place to escape the everyday hardships they face and truly be themselves. I only hope to provide every opportunity possible to encourage the importance of their education and personal growth.
"Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You." -Dr. Seuss
Students are individuals; each one is unique and has their own learning style that is specific to their personality and experience.
It is my belief that students can grow and improve their learning styles when they are given choices. One of those choices should be where and how they learn in their classroom each day. I am asking for a new table that will seat several students and some rolling chairs as one of several options for students to use each day. This is only the beginning of the transformation of my classroom into a more open and inviting work-space where students can collaborate, make choices independently, and improve problem solving skills.
