Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
After eight years in fifth grade, I am transitioning into a third grade position. With that change comes a new set of learners who need more frequent wiggle breaks and options. After reading Love and Logic, I am inspired to allow more choices in my classroom. Those choices and freedom include where to sit to learn best, which inspired this project on flexible seating.
We are a title 1 school in eastern Las Vegas full of kind, thoughtful, inquisitive young learners.
Our inclusion classroom welcomes a plethora of different types of learners and embraces all.
My Project
After reading Love and Logic, I was inspired to embed more choice within my inclusion classroom to empower my young students. With that choice should come the opportunity to choose where to sit. We all remember those plastic school chairs and how uncomfortable they would become after a hard day of learning. I am requesting supplies to help allow for more freedom in our classroom environment.
I am requesting bean bags and stools to incorporate flexible seating and allow for more freedom in my third grade classroom.
Essentially by letting students choose where they work, they tend to be more focused and engaged in the lesson. I know I struggle to be motivated to read when confined to a rigid plastic chair, but love to sprawl out on the floor with a cushion and get lost in the pages of my book. I'd like my students to experience the same freedom in choosing their seats in our learning adventure.
