Help me give my students flexible seating to allow them to move in a controlled way while they learn. Research has proven that children benefit from this environment.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a fantastic group of first graders. They walk into class every day with a smile on their face and eager to learn. Our school is a Title I school, with over 65% of our students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch.
We have a large ELL population, many migrant families as well as military families.
The children from migrant families spend most of the year split between multiple schools causing a disruption in their education while military children are often dealing with the stress of the deployment of a parent. Despite their various struggles at home, I want my students to come to class and know that what they need will be provided.
Consistency, safety, and an inviting environment are necessities to help them succeed.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to advocate for themselves and their learning. They recognize that they can make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times, they often ask to relocate to a spot in the classroom that works for them. Currently, my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as at different tables, sitting under tables using white boards for something hard to write on, or sitting or lying on the floor. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work.
The wobble chairs I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed!
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
