Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

This school year I am lucky enough to teach 23 fantastic 1st graders. My students are eager to learn, and love to be actively engaged in the classroom. My goal is to help them be learners, creators, scientist, explorers, writers, and mathematicians. 1st grade is such an important year for these kids as they learn the skills they will need for future educational success. We are a Title I School which means we have a high poverty rate among our students, and our resources are low. My goal is to provide my class with all resources needed to help them grow and succeed.

My Project

Motivating students to read starts with giving them good experiences with reading. During our literacy block my students get to read to self and with their peers often. Our library is currently lacking furniture for the students to sit and read in a comfortable and relaxing environment. I want to ensure that our kids have all good experiences with reading so they keep working towards their goals and learning. All of these items will be used daily, and will make our library a happy and fun place to be! Thank you for considering a donation, my kids will especially love the wobble stools and contemporary carpet!
