Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have an energetic group of students who need to move throughout the day. We have many movement breaks in our class, but we need more variety with our seating options for more support. For many of my students, chairs are not the best for keeping them engaged and regulated.
Research shows that providing a variety of seating options will allow students to improve core strength and overall posture and to access further sensory stimulation that will boost academic learning.
Students will be able to choose to sit at their tables with their chairs or wobble stools or find a comfortable position on the carpet with a cushion or lap desk. The chair bands will also support students with attention and staying on task, helping them to release stored energy in a quiet manner.
