My students are very special to me and I would like them to feel special when they are at school. I teach 5th grade special education. I teach Math and ELA to amazing students. We are part of a Title I school and most of my students come from a low income household and a vast range of ability levels as well as my types of learners.
My students thrive in a fun environment that meets the many aspects of their needs, while providing them with choices in their learning environment.
Flexible seating would help with ensuring that my students get to move while learning. These options will also give them a choice of seating that works best for them, to meet their learning needs.
Previously, I taught special education students in grades Kindergarten - 3rd grade. With teaching older students this school year, I need bigger furniture that fits them.
I would like to offer my students a variety of seating options in the classroom. The options I have chosen will enable them to get out their energy, which sometimes can impede their ability to finish work. The donut seats, wobble cushion, lap desk, chair bands and wobble ball allows for students to stay on task all while increasing their engagement and enhancing their academic learning. Flexible seating is being offered in many classrooms and has been proven to be effective. Having flexible seating options will greatly benefit my students and their different learning styles.
With a variety of flexible seating options offered within the classroom, it allows for them to succeed in a more "Flexible" environment.
It is my hope to offer stools, bean bag chairs, donut seats, wobble cushions, lap desks and chair bands to my students; increasing their engagement and enhancing their academic learning to achieve their goals.
