Help me give my students a different form of seating other than the standard hard desk and chair. I want my students to feel comfortable when returning to school in our new classroom during these hard times.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, thoughtful and full of energy. They are always eager to learn. They come from many different backgrounds and cultures. Our class includes several students who speak English as their second language. As a whole, my students come from a low socioeconomic status and low income. The students from our school qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Some of the students in our class come from foster care. We are working hard in all areas including building a strong classroom community and creating values of respect and good citizenship. Every day we work hard to do better than we did the day before. My students come to school each day ready to learn new things and grow academically.

My Project

Flexible seating will give students an opportunity to have a fun type of seating. This type of seating gives students the responsibility of taking charge in their learning. With the different options, students will be able to make a choice of what will work best for them. It is very important to make sure students are comfortable and motivated to learn. Students are more engaged in their work and less disruptive when they are able to choose their own seating. The flexible seating I have selected will help my students have additional seating options that will help them make more effective learning choices. The wobble cushions and soft seats will allow students to place them on their chairs or on the floor. These type of seating options will still allow students to have some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for students who need to get their wiggles out. The flex-space comfy floor seats will allow students to sit at our low to the ground table and have a soft place and a back to lean on. All of these options will allow for comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.

The option to choose seating can positively affect my students work and be able to grow.
