Your donation made it possible for me to access creative, high-quality lessons designed and shared by other educators, helping bring engaging and meaningful learning opportunities directly into our classroom.\r\n\r\nUsing resources from Teachers Pay Teachers, I was able to find creative lessons that supported our Ancient Egypt unit. As part of the unit, students completed a STEM challenge where they designed and created their own obelisks inspired by the structures built in Ancient Egypt. With the materials you provided, students used the LEGO-style bricks, cardstock, and clay tools to carefully construct their models while thinking about balance, structure, and design.\r\n\r\nWhat excited students most was the opportunity to build something with their own hands while connecting it to what they were learning about history and engineering. Watching their ideas take shape made the learning feel more real and engaging, and students were very proud of the obelisks they created.\r\n\r\nThis activity also supported important executive functioning skills. Students needed to plan how they would build their obelisk, organize their materials, and work through challenges that came up during the construction process. When parts of their structure didn't work the way they expected, students practiced problem-solving and flexible thinking to adjust their designs and continue building.\r\n\r\nSome students who don't always feel as confident during traditional assignments really connected with this hands-on activity. Working independently allowed them to focus on their own design and pace, and many showed persistence as they revised their structures to make them stronger and more stable.\r\n\r\nYour generosity helped make this engaging learning experience possible. Because of your support, students were able to connect history, engineering, and creativity while strengthening important problem-solving and executive functioning skills.","fullyFundedDate":1768265648596,"projectUrl":"project/egyptian-engineers/9977783/","projectTitle":"Egyptian Engineers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sosa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6590933_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y7&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1630200029705","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6590933"},{"teacherId":6590933,"projectId":9930546,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support in providing our classroom with 3D pens and refill filament. Your contribution has opened the door to exciting hands-on learning experiences that help bring creativity, engineering, and problem-solving together for our students.\r\n\r\nThe 3D pens allow students to turn abstract ideas into physical creations, which helps deepen their understanding of STEM concepts. For example, our 5th graders recently used the pens during a STEM unit to construct geometric heart structures, combining math concepts like angles, shapes, and spatial reasoning with engineering and design. Younger students have also been using the pens to create personalized name decorations, which strengthens fine motor skills while encouraging creativity and pride in their work.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most about the 3D pens is the ability to bring their imagination to life. They love seeing their ideas take shape right in front of them as they build structures layer by layer. The hands-on nature of the tool makes learning feel like experimentation and discovery.\r\n\r\nBeyond creativity and STEM learning, the 3D pens have also helped students develop important executive functioning skills. Students must plan their designs, organize their materials, manage their time, and adjust when something doesn't go as expected. They practice persistence and flexible thinking when a structure doesn't hold or when they need to revise their design. These moments help students build confidence in problem-solving and strengthen the self-management skills that support success in many areas of learning.\r\n\r\nSome students who are usually hesitant to participate in traditional lessons have really connected with this technology. Hands-on learners, in particular, have found a space where they can shine. A few students who often struggle with focus have shown impressive concentration while carefully constructing their designs, and others have stepped into leadership roles by helping classmates troubleshoot or demonstrating new techniques.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is making a meaningful difference in our classroom. Because of your support, students are not only exploring STEM concepts but also building creativity, perseverance, and the executive functioning skills that will help them succeed both in and out of school.","fullyFundedDate":1767203368050,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-future-inventors-with-3d-pens-an/9930546/","projectTitle":"Fueling Future Inventors with 3D Pens and Filament Refills","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sosa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6590933_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y7&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1630200029705","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6590933"},{"teacherId":5620841,"projectId":9448036,"letterContent":"Our new classroom tools have made a tremendous impact on teaching and learning this year. They have helped lessons run more smoothly and have given my students even more opportunities to stay engaged and excited about learning.\r\n\r\nThe wrapping paper cutter has been a surprising game changer being able to quickly and neatly cut large paper in half has helped me create anchor charts and visual supports much more efficiently. \r\n\r\nOne of the biggest hits with the kids has been our Hangman game. We use it in small groups, and my students love the anticipation of guessing their word before the little figure falls. They cheer when they win and laugh every time he drops. They are fully engaged, building letter-sound knowledge without even realizing how much they're learning.\r\n\r\nThe ink refills have probably had the biggest practical impact. We print constantly for hands-on learning, and having reliable ink allows us to create fresh activities whenever students need them. Most recently, we printed a beginning-sounds turkey sort, and it was a huge success during our literacy centers.\r\n\r\nThe voice amplifier has also been such a gift. The magnetic microphone is easy to wear, and my students can hear me clearly from anywhere in the classroom. It keeps lessons smooth and helps all learners stay on track, especially during busy centers or whole-group time.\r\n\r\nThese tools have made daily instruction smoother, more engaging, and more accessible for every child. Each student now has a menu that holds 8 pages of references. The hundreds chart is a favorite—we use a song and video as students point to the numbers while counting to 100. The alphabet chart has also been so engaging; students sing the letters and sounds while touching each letter, and they love tracing their own names with a dry erase marker multiple times for practice. Having a full class set of matching scissors has eliminated conflicts about which ones to use, and they've been put to good use for crafts and fine motor practice. The larger crayons have also been a huge improvement—students are still developing their grips, but the size has helped reduce breakage and made them easier to keep track of. When my students first walked into the classroom and saw the pizza themed decorations they were so excited. The chef hats and aprons quickly became a favorite, and the excitement was contagious as they eagerly stepped into their roles as little chefs. Their faces lit up with curiosity and enthusiasm, and it was clear that this project had sparked a new level of motivation and imagination.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the materials to create interactive centers where students practice key ELA and math skills through pizza themed games. One of our favorite activities so far has been a \"Build-a-Pizza\" one would be the customer giving an order of how many of each shape toppings on the pizza and then give it to their partner. They pretended to eat the pizza and switch roles. These activities have made learning feel like play!\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to expand this experience by incorporating real cooking projects using the same materials. The cutting boards, hats, and aprons will come back out as students explore simple recipes and write their own \"How-To\" guide integrating writing, sequencing, and measurement skills. The wireless HDMI transmitter has been a game-changer—it allowed me to finally connect our projector, which had been sitting unused. Now, I can project lessons and activities right from my desk. While prepping for parent-teacher conferences, I used it to display our reflection forms, and the students were able to follow along and respond independently. It's also been a huge help for modeling crafts and writing tasks—I can now demonstrate step-by-step and every student can clearly see what to do at their table.\r\n\r\nOur students are absolutely loving the hands-on materials too. The Numberblocks Blockzee Balance has been a hit in math centers, helping students grasp number sense and balance concepts in a fun, visual way. The Eyewords phonics flashcards have been an exciting addition during small groups—students are more engaged and confident with sight words thanks to the multisensory approach. The Jumbo Magnetic Draw & Write paper has made it easy to model informational writing and letter formation, while the Astrobrights sentence strips have brightened our classroom in more ways than one. We've used them for shared writing, messages of appreciation for our amazing EA, and even labeling parts of our butterfly life cycle project!\r\n\r\nSpeaking of butterflies—our real caterpillars are currently in their chrysalis stage, and the students check on them eagerly every morning. Alongside this, we've been working on an art project that's always a big hit: students made their own caterpillars using pom-poms and clothespins, with coffee filter wings hidden under tissue paper \"chrysalises.\" They don't yet know that the wings are already attached, making the reveal even more magical!
