This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

As a teacher at a Title I school, my students can be faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. With Kindergarten being the foundation for future learning it is imperative that all children have an opportunity to experience the best! I absolutely love teaching Kindergarten! They are 5-6 years old that need and want a lot of movement.

They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.

The classroom turns into a safe place where they can make learn, make mistakes, and strive. I feel that providing students with flexible seating will provide them with opportunities to love learning while moving without creating a distraction. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue a path of academic excellence.

My Project

Kindergartners are always on the move, and I would like to embrace that with the wobble chairs, wobble cushions and fidget foot bands.

My students will use the flexible seating options that meet their individual needs.

This will give them a way to find a comfortable spot while being productive in the learning environment. During independent work, students will be able to wiggle away on a cushion or choose a wobble seat to complete their work. I want to give my students as much choice as I can, so they feel comfortable while working. If they choose to stay in their seat, they can use the fidget band and still be able to freely produce comfortable movement.

I am so excited to start my flexible seating journey this upcoming school year. I have found that many teachers who have implemented flexible seating, their students make great gains in their learning. I have chosen flexible seating options that I know will benefit my students. I know they’ll love learning while wobbling.
