Our first graders need a classroom that can do it all. Our room is small, and our students have diverse learning and sensory needs we want to support! We have spent the last two years improving this space to meet the needs of our students and curriculum.
Sometimes the simplest materials (like a storage bench) are actually the ones that have the biggest impact on student experience throughout the day.
These benches will be used in the meeting area to give wiggly kids a place where they can focus and participate. They will double as cozy library seating and storage so kids can read on the rug, which they love to do. And we will even use them as table seating for tables closest to the meeting area. Some of our students like to spread out and move around while they learn, and sometimes it is hard for them to do so without distracting other kids in the meeting area.
