My Students
My students are a wonderful group of first graders that love reading Mo Willems books and learning about the animals that live on a farm that is adjacent to our school. They are enthusiastic learners that love helping others, writing narratives, and playing math games with their friends.
My students are ethnically diverse with more than 49% being of Native Hawaiian Ancestry.
Our school is a Title 1 school located on the Leeward Coast of Oahu. We have a 100% of our students partaking in free breakfast and lunch. My hope is to provide my students with a quality education and a comfortable learning environment that with ensure academic achievement.
My Project
The furniture in our classroom was purchased in 1960 and while it’s functional it does not support flexible seating arrangements.
Flexible seating arrangements are fun for young learners.
It encourages student interaction with each other, promotes student engagement, and gives them the freedom to choose where they want to work.
My students need floor cushions, beanbags, and comfy floor seats that would allow them to work comfortably on their tummies or at low tables on the floor.
