This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students and our community are both amazing and inspiring individuals. We are a Title I school with a diverse population of students which include over 80% Hispanic and 100% of our students receive free breakfast daily. Our neighborhood/community school is unique as we have generations of families as part of our school.
My class is a bilingual classroom with majority of English Language Learners (ELL) working on acquiring the English language and Special Ed/504 students working hard to develop academically.
My class consists of twenty-two first graders who are eager to learn and ask questions. I, as their teacher, promote a nurturing, safe learning environment for all.
They are determined, passionate learners that are courageous, compassionate and strong survivors who have faced difficult home situations, yet, they are always smiling and eager to learn!
My Project
With the flexible seating project, I will be able to give my students the choice of where to work during independent practice.
Students will be more comfortable and motivated to finish their assignments and make good choices.
They enjoy being on the carpet, on a cozy corner and writing on the floor. The cushions will allow them to be sitting on the floor and can be used in different areas of my classroom.
The cushions are washable and easy to transport.
Thank you for helping me in making my students more comfortable in their classroom, they will truly enjoy learning in their flexible seating.
