My Students

My students come to school on a daily basis ready to learn! Many of my students receive free or reduced lunch. As first grade students, they are making great gains this year in reading, writing, and math. How can I close the achievement gap?

Give them a reason to love school!

Perhaps more importantly, they are learning to love learning. They show interest and excitement when they discover new things! While learning responsibility and how to be respectful, they can be successful in anything they set their minds to.

My Project

Flexible seating will allow my students to take ownership of their learning. During small group and independent work time, students focus and work best when they are comfortable and their needs are being met. By allowing my students to choose their own seating that works for them, this also allows them to focus on doing their very best work. When children are able to choose their own seat, they are more engaged and will get more accomplished than if they were uncomfortable in a chair.

First grade students are not meant to sit still in a chair all day.

They need to be interacting with other students in small groups. in a comfortable environment that meets their needs. The Wobble chairs I have selected will help my students to choose seating options that allow for movement as well as better focus.
