My Students

I am a first-grade teacher from a small rural community. Our school serves students in grades Pre-K through 12. Within our school, we have high numbers of students who qualify as economically disadvantaged. We also have a high number of students with disabilities.

Though their circumstances make things more challenging, each of my students still deserve the very best education and learning opportunities available anywhere!

I want to give my students the best possible chance to succeed. Our students are some of the best students you will find anywhere. They are hard workers, kind, and generous. They want to learn and are curious about the world around them. It is truly an incredible place to be a teacher, and I am so lucky to be their teacher everyday!

My Project

With the addition of flexible seating options in my classroom, my student will be able to make choices that are better for their individual learning needs. The stools, scoop rockers, and Vidget seating system provide different ways for students to meet their own seating and comfort needs and various times in the classroom.

When students have the option to choose their seating they are more likely to stay focused and engaged for longer.

The Vidget seating system offers an additional bonus because the same seat can be used in three different ways to allow students to customize their workspace using the same piece of furniture. It even comes with sensory bumps in the handles, so students can get tactile sensory input when and where they need it.
