Flexible Seating for Enhancing Student Learning

Help me give my students the ability to have flexible seating in the classroom. Right now they have desk attached to chairs but with separate tables, stools, and chairs will enhance their learning and collaboration.

My Project

Flexible seating can create an engaging and inviting classroom for students. The wobble stools can let students move while still learning in the classroom. The whiteboard tables allow students to be able to show their work right where they are. This also provides students with additional space to solve their math problems. The whiteboard tables also provides more opportunities for engagement between students. Students are able to share their work with the other students sitting around them.

My goal for this project is to give my students more opportunities for collaboration and engagement during instruction and independent work.

Currently, I have desk that are attached to chairs which is not the ideal furniture for a classroom. With all the flexible seating I can switch up collaboration between students. Flexible seating is backed by research showing where it can enhance a student-center approach to teaching and learning. The idea of flexible seating was to increase student engagement by giving students the opportunity to exercise choice by choosing the best seating option for them. This can also help students stay more engaged by being able to adjust their seating.

My students would benefit greatly from having different seating options within the classroom. They would be able to collaborate with their peers and stay engaged during instruction and small groups.
