My Project
Every student gets frustrated, overwhelmed, and exasperated during the school year. Sitting in a chair all day can be very difficult, especially for students with additional academic and emotional challenges. Flexible seating gives students choice and gives them an opportunity to calm down when upset.
My students benefit from a variety of different seating options as opposed to sitting at a chair and desk all day.
The students in my class are all on the autism spectrum disorder, making self-regulation difficult. Having a choice of seating allows students to feel comfortable in their learning environment. In addition to serving as a calming area, I plan on using these seats in a literacy nook. Students will be more apt to enjoy a good book.
