There are numerous ways that students can be supported as successful and diverse learners. Not all students learn the same way or benefit from the same support. It is for this reason that it is important to me to have student agency in the classroom. In regards to seating, some of my students benefit from sitting in an alone space while others thrive off of working with a group. Some students focus well when they are sitting on the floor while others feel comfortable at a desk. I encourage students to choose the best seat for their body.
To support the needs of diverse learners in my classroom, I would love to provide a flexible seating choice that incorporates movement.
Some students can focus more easily when they are able to move around a bit, so these wiggle seats would allow them to do this in a way that is safe and quiet.
I have found that flexible seating is so beneficial to supporting my students as individual learners, and would be so grateful to provide another choice. Thank you for your consideration--my class and I appreciate your kindness!
