Our student community is engaged in many extracurricular activities, service projects, and clubs. Library funding always falls short of our needs. Our student body is academically successful and strongly proficient. We are in constant need of newly released books for our students to keep them engaged and growing. Our school library budget targets our readers' needs with new and exciting book releases. However, budgetary constraints are clearly visible in our furnishings. Our tables and chairs, likely original to the building from 1968, are basic and showing wear and age. I want to provide our students with flexible and modern furnishings to continue the media makeover we have been working on for these last several years. Bit by bit, we are giving our aged media center an essential facelift to create a modern media center for our 21st-century learners.
My Project
Currently, our media center is full of OLD, clunky, dated furniture that is uncomfortable and does not adapt well to collaborative and diverse learning styles, spaces, and students. Our furniture is actually falling apart.
Since the media center is used by all of our community, it will benefit many of our users, students, staff, and parents, to have new, modern, and flexible furnishings.
Having some flexible seating for our learning community will allow us to meet the needs of diverse learners! We will continue to build and add to our space until we have a sufficient amount of seating to meet the needs of our school community as they gather in our space.
