Flexible Seating for Creative Thinking

My students need Flex-Space giant pillows and comfy couch to provide flexible and comfortable places to let their creative minds to get into the zone.

My Students

I work at a Japanese immersion school in Michigan. The students are an eclectic group of language learners from those learning their alphabet to those working above grade level.

At this school students are very engaged and proud as they progress.

Instruction is differentiated to reach all levels of learners in the class. They love to play games and to work independently and in groups. The class is rarely quiet, with productive talking going on in both Japanese and English. The students work hard and are very eager to learn something new.

My Project

Students in my class enjoy some of the seating choices they have besides sitting at a table. When they use alternate seating they seem more relaxed. It also gives them a sense of independence because they are able to choose themselves where they sit.

Flexible seating has made its way into the workforce.

It would be nice to provide the same laid-back environment for the students. The couch and pillows will extend the amount of flexible seating I have available, making the class seem more like home. The new seats will help replace the pillows and seats that have been lovingly used up the past few years.
