This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come from low income, inner city backgrounds. Many are English Learners and will someday be the first generation in their families to attend college.
My class is full of amazing students.
They love to learn and are both respectful and helpful. They are curious, enthusiastic and always up for a challenge.
Our school motto is, "Anyone can be good, but awesome takes practice," and ever year it seems our students become more and more awesome.
My Project
Imagine a classroom where students don't just sit in the same spaces. A classroom where students read on yoga mats or brainstorm math problems in a circle of stools. They could release some energy while seated on an exercise ball as they write a story.
My purpose for these materials is to have students chose different seating options throughout the day.
Students will feel empowered by having some choice and control over their environments. Flexible seating allows students to find comfortable positions throughout the classroom and thus helps them to be calm, focused and productive. Comfortable students love to learn.
