As a Kindergarten teacher in a Title 1 school, many of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Every day my students face challenges in and out of the classroom, but we always start our day with a morning greeting to show my students they are cared for and loved by their teacher. The students are able to choose a high five, handshake or a hug, many of my students choose a hug, which I love. My students are very active kiddos, who love to learn, read and write they own books.
Flexible Seating allows students to be in charge of their learning and making choices that work for them. During circle time and whole group instruction, many students have difficulty sitting on a carpet. At this time students have multiple options while at their desk, but none at the carpet.
The Butterfly Stools will allow my students to be more engaged in circle time and whole group instruction by providing them with additional seating options.
The product that I have selected will help students by giving them an option for comfortable seating while at the carpet. In addition, the sit spots will be placed in a circle which research shows circular configurations on the carpet helps support engagement because students have a less obstructive view. The Butterfly Stools can then also be moved to tables for independent time or centers to provide additional seating options.
When students have choice, it positively impacts student behavior!
