My Project

In our kindergarten classroom, we work on how we can regulate our big feelings. When we are feeling sad, mad, or anxious we want a special place to go to calm down. We have a designated canopy for our calm-down area and want to add a comfortable flexible seating option to go with it.

Having a comfortable flexible seating option like a stool will help provide a space for my students to use our calming area.

Students will be able to rock, move, and focus on using that space to explore their feelings. Using the floor is working for now but providing a comfortable seating option that moves will also aid in those big body movement needs. These types of seating options greatly aid in the restoration and regulation of students who are seeking sensory de-escalation.
