My Students

I teach a very special group of 4th graders. About half of my students are members of military families. While they come to school everyday excited and eager to learn they often have other things on their minds; a parent away on deployment, one parent at home trying to keep things together, the stress of moving schools in the middle of the year. Although my students have a lot to think about at home they still come to school enthusiastic for another opportunity to learn. The traditional setting of our classroom and the traditional desk and chair furniture does not suit all of my learners. The students need the opportunity to learn in the environment that is best for them. Having flexible seating options would allow for more individual environments.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in my classroom by allowing my students to have more seating options in class. Students have a hard task of sitting in a classroom for 7 hours every day. By having alternative seating that can help the students focus they will be more productive.

My students are so special to me and I spend every day trying to give them my best.

I want my classroom to be a welcoming space. Having traditional classroom furniture does not create the warmest environment for the students. I am looking forward to opening up my classroom to not only my students but friends of my students as well to have a space where they feel safe and comfortable.
