Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the at-promise students in GUSD that enroll into our school for credit recovery and an opportunity to graduate. Where they may not have been successful at their comprehensive school for a host of reasons, in my classroom, I hope to give them a true alternative education experience.
While focusing on rigor, my students not only learn but grow academically.
My goal is for students to be prepared for college, trade schools, and career ready when they leave my classroom. With that, I hope to provide them a beautiful classroom with flexible seating so we can orchestrate learning and show growth in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
My Project
To create a truly alternative learning environment I am seeking to fundraise for alternative seating for my classroom. Currently, we only have blue plastic chairs. I hope to bring in some alternative seating arrangements for students to collaborate, enjoy reading, practice mindfulness, and engage in critical thinking in my classroom in a more comfortable environment.
In classrooms that have implemented flexible seating they have seen student's grades improved, students seem happier and more engaged, and students participated more and had more invigorating conversations.
These seating options will transform my classroom into a place students want to learn and won't want to leave. Thank you so much for considering your donation.
