Help me give my students options for comfortable seating in our new school library with laptop desks and clipboards so that they can sit and work comfortably.
My school is a Montessori school in the Cincinnati area. Students come from all over our large district in order to be in a Montessori school. This is the first year that our school has had a functioning library. My students are utilizing our library on a daily basis for a variety of needs. I want to take it to the next step by adding books, activities, and comfortable seating to further engage my students.
It is my goal that our students see libraries as a lifelong resource, and a place of discovery, and that starts in our school library.
The books, activities, seating and STEM activities are for all ages and interest levels. Getting my students hooked on the library now will leave no limits to their learning.
I have children who are taking pride in their learning. I want to add to their pride and continue by inspiring them to think, question and examine their world.
My Project
My students need seating that is comfortable and useful, portable lapdesks and clipboards offer mobility and another way for students to sit on the floor or in the reading area to work on laptops or write in a comfortable manner.
In the Montessori school, students are self paced, they are led to become independent, and they work where they are comfortable and can remain focused.
This gives them freedom to decide where to work.
I'm working towards making this new school library more of a learning commons where my students can access books, audio books, online lessons and activities the manner that they have become accustomed to in the Montessori way.
