it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are an energetic bunch! They come into school excited and ready to learn!
Our students are curious, considerate, amazing learners who are growing everyday.
I work in a school where 90% of students receive free lunch. Some students live in shelters, some live with many family members in small cramped apartments, some have parents that work overtime or hold two jobs in order to provide for their family. My school is a special place where staff come together to make a welcoming enjoyable learning environment for our children. No matter what their personal situation is our students can come to school knowing they can count on a safe, inviting, comfortable place for them to grow and learn.
My fourth graders are talkers, thinkers, workers, innovators, and questioners who love to share their thoughts and ideas. They inspire me daily to be a better teacher and learner. When I look at them I see future scientists, engineers, doctors, authors, chefs, broadcasters, entrepreneurs, teachers… the sky is the limit. I want to give them a great year where they feel confident and comfortable to be themselves in their learning environment as they take in new information and collaborate with each other.
My Project
Fourth grade is an important academic year and many students struggle to stay focused. Flexible seating is an opportunity to help students stay more focused during lessons. Many students in our classroom have a learning disability that makes it difficult to keep their bodies still for short periods of time, and this would allow them to not feel bad for fidgeting during lessons. It is a great way to move around without disrupting and allows them to move while listening. Other classrooms in our school that are using these seating options, have had tremendous success! These would be a great asset to our classroom.
