This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have an amazing group of loving, bilingual diverse students. This year, my students have impressed me in the way they show love and care for each other. My students consistently find ways to help each other and cheer each other up. My students communicate their feelings, thoughts, and ideas with me in a lot of different ways. Some things they write to me in the chat, but in the middle of teaching, I miss some comments. The students always find a respectful way to let me know what their classmates need or offer assistance without my asking.

My Project
Throughout the pandemic my students have been sitting in front of a screen for hours after hours. Sitting in front of a screen is difficult for everyone, but it is a bigger challenge for eight-year-olds. My students are working really hard to stay concentrated in the class, but it’s becoming difficult to sit in a chair and not be able to move. My school has transitioned into hybrid learning. This means some of my students are in class and some of my students are still learning remotely. The students that are in my classroom have to maintain distance from each other for their safety. This means that they have to stay in their seat through the school day. It is difficult for them to sit on the hard chairs that they have. Because my students have to sit for long periods of time in the same place, it’s difficult for my students to focus in their academics. My students complain of physical pain because they don’t have any flexible seating. My students are in pain throughout the day and we don’t have enough room in the classroom for them to be able to move around. This is affecting their academics because they are focused on how uncomfortable they are during class and not on their work.
I ask that you help me provide my students with flexible seating to help them learn and be successful in school.
