My students need a variety of flexible seating to be able to concentrate during whole group, small group and individual instruction. These options will make a huge difference throughout the day to make learning more fun!
My students walk into my classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I ask them, "Who are the best students in the whole world?" and they reply, "We are!" I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything.
I teach in a K-2, 12:1:1 program.
The majority of my students have a learning disability and have a very hard time sitting still from sensory input and output. I am interested in getting flexible seating in my room to help my students with their sensory needs. I believe my students will show great growth with new furniture and supplies.
I believe in my heart with the proper supplies in the classroom I will see great growth within each of my students.
These items will make a huge difference throughout the day for all types of learning instruction. Students will be able to sit comfortably but will also be able to take care of their sensory needs at the same time. Students tend to sit for too long throughout the day and these items will help with the students that have a hard time sitting or need to 'fidget' while working! I believe it is important for students to choose where and how they sit in a structured environment to make sure learning comes easier to them.
Through research, I have seen fantastic results from classrooms with open seating options for their students.
By allowing students to choose independent or group seating setups it will help support their learning the best I can. I know my students would benefit from these options. I know my students would not only be excited and appreciate the option on where to sit, but I will be thrilled to see their engagement increase due to our new new seating options.
