Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a very special blend of youngsters. They come from a mixture of backgrounds, but one thing they all have in common is that they have a school to call home. I am going into my 3rd year with this demographic. These great students are coming from a low income neighborhood. These students have a drive to come to school to learn.
These students may be small in size, but they have huge hearts.
I have seen these students on this campus grow since they were in 2nd grade.
We aim for each year to be better than the last. These new incoming 4th graders are achieving their goals in leaps and bounds, but they do need help from us in achieving these goals. They need the support and love of a village, and it does take a village.
Many of my students come in the morning stating they could not finish assignments at home because they couldn't find a pencil or even a sharpener. My hope is to wipe away worries from these young minds by providing them with materials in the classroom.
My Project
Reading and writing workshops are ways to help students grow.
My goal is to make reading and writing workshops fun and motivational for my students.
All of the items I am requesting were selected with the aim of making participation in our reading and writing workshops fun and engaging.
In our rooms, we have laminate tile, and the rug and bean bags I selected are for the library area of my classroom. Readers will have a relaxing nook in which to enjoy a good book. The chairs and lap desks are to support the writers of tomorrow that are in our schools today. If they prefer not to write in their desks, they can grab a cushion seat and lap pad and scribe their thoughts down while sitting in a camping chair, on a bean bag, or on the carpet.
