This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

One of the strengths of our students is their diversity. We value their ethnic, academic and economic differences and work hard to provide nurturing, rigorous environments so that all of our students can become life long learners no matter where they begin. This year, I want to meet my students diverse needs by creating a flexible seating classroom.

Students who have choices in their learning and safe ways to get moving are more engaged and focused in their learning.

Choices and variety in different styles of seating will help meet my students need to wiggle and channel their movement into learning!

My Project

Many of my students struggle with staying still and focusing in order to learn. Rather than fight their wiggles, I want to harness that energy and direct it to their learning.

We need wobble cushions, bean bags and lap desks so that students will have a positive outlet for their energy.

These tools will meet the students need to move, allowing their mind to focus on learning instead of "staying still." With a variety of options, students can choose how they learn which increases their engagement. Students can wobble in a chair, work on the floor or relax and read in a bean bag.
