Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I want my students to have access to different areas of the classroom to be able to have choice of where they want to complete their work to allow for more creativity and collaborative opportunities amongst their peers. In the past, having flexible seating has allowed my students the freedom to feel safe and engaged within my classroom which has allowed for a better learning environment. I'm requesting chair bands, floor pillow cushions, stacking stools, and a rug.

Students view their classroom as an open area where learning takes place rather than a rigid environment. Open workspaces and seating policies are affordances to students and teachers alike. Teachers have the ability to conference with groups of students more comfortably and naturally. Additionally, flexible classroom design encourages interactionand leads students to feel closer personal connections with their teacher and peers". (Rands & Gansemer-Topf, 2017, p.29)
