Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our community is high crime, high poverty and the classroom is often the safest, calmest environment that our students have. Our students are provided with all of the basic necessities such as breakfast in the classroom and dental check-ups, as well as a daily positive learning environment. While we try to supply everything they need to learn, extra material items are often not within our budget.

I am looking to provide materials to create a flexible seating community classroom.

This room will be used by all students as well as community members. I want the room to reflect flexible seating for all learners. The room will be utilized on a daily basis. We are a blended learning school which encourages students to choose flexible seating options that are comfortable for students while they are working.

My Project

These tables will be included in our flexible community room. This room will be used be every classroom for read alouds, science maker space designing, and social emotional lessons.

These materials will encourage choice and assist students in creating their own comfortable work space.

Allowing choice is a great way for our students to learn which way they learn best. Choices like these also allow students with learning disabilities the ability to create their own learning space that helps them best.

Creating a personal investment in their learning also encourages responsibility in our students daily learning environment. Owning ones learning is just one step in becoming a life long learner.
