I teach in a small rural school district. It is a poor district where there is usually very little funding to upgrade furniture. I am starting my 2nd year in this district, even though I am a 35-year veteran teacher. Because I am the "new" teacher, I was given the furniture that no one else wanted. I have scraped together a few tables and chairs. However, the chairs are made of hard plastic and with use have developed cracks in the seats. Some of them even pinch the students' legs.
I want to build a classroom where the students can choose different kinds of seating.
This flexible seating will get their creative minds flowing as they learn the joy of personal finance. In my class, they learn all the needed skills to be a successful adult. They even make a plan for their life at age 25. My students need to feel comfortable as they plan their future life.
