Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in grade K-5. I have 12-15 kids from each grade level. They have difficulty decoding grade level, which impacts all academic areas. They require Tier 3 instruction to help them bridge the gaps they have in terms of reading. Each grade comes to my classroom 30 min per day for intensive instruction in phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, and reading comprehension.
Many exhibit difficulty with attention and remaining in their chairs as well as focusing on the task.
They all want to be successful and catch up with their on grade level peers.
My Project
In my intervention class, the students come for 30 min sessions. The flexible seating alternatives will allow students with different attention and sensory processing difficulties optimize their learning. The bouncy balls will allow my students reach their full potential while being able to get their wiggles out.
Please help my students have the opportunity to bounce to success as their sensory systems are still developing, and by being in motion they are alert and ready to learn.
Having the choice between a bouncy ball, elastic band on their chair, or a seat cushion will give my students ownership over their own learning environment.
