My Students
My students are the best, but I may be slightly biased because they are mine! I work in an inner city Chicago Public School on the northwest side of Chicago. Our school is in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the city. We have students from all over the world and over 40 different languages are spoken within our community.
Currently, I teach a group of 25 diverse, energetic, kind, and caring second graders who are eager to learn and genuinely love coming to school.
All of my students come from many different backgrounds. The learning styles and academic abilities are quite vast, giving me the opportunity to provide a very tailored plan to suit their academic and social emotional needs. Although the needs vary, we have one thing in common...our dedication to learning!
My Project
We are almost ready to debut our new flexible seating transformation for the 2016-2017 school year. With your help, we will be able to complete our vision. Flexible seating will allow our students the opportunity to learn in an environment that is comfortable for them.
As adults, we find that we work better in an area that is comfortable for us, the same is true for our children.
Each one of our 6 classroom tables will offer a different flexible seating option that the students will be able to select throughout the course of the school day.
Students will be able to use stability balls at one table, bouncy bands at another table or curl up with a good book on a comfy rug. Kids need options and this grant will help to accomplish this goal!
