Flexible Seating, Calming Lights, and Books for 4th Grade Focus

My Project

My wonderful 4th-grade learners are full of curiosity, energy, and a natural need to move. Our classroom currently relies on harsh, standard fluorescent lighting and fixed, traditional chairs. Even with our current flexible seating, we don't have enough movement-based options to support all of our 9- and 10-year-olds—especially those with high energy or sensory processing needs. This shortage means many active students are still frequently forced into stationary chairs, which can lead to fidgeting, discomfort, and reduced concentration.

While we have successfully introduced some initial flexible seating, my class needs more dedicated movement tools to channel their energy into focus.

To expand our existing options and ensure every student who needs it has access to active seating, I am requesting these additional wiggle stools, calming light filters, and a new collection of high-interest books.

My 4th graders are ready to take on bigger academic challenges, but they need a learning environment that supports their developmental need for movement and limits sensory distractions. By funding these items, you are not just purchasing a stool or a book, you are investing in a more inclusive, focused, and joyful learning experience that will benefit every student for years to come.
