Flexible Seating and Learning Through High-Engagement, Fun Activities
Help me give my students hands-on materials, choices in seating, and group learning activities. Magnetic boards will help the students in a small-group setting to build and read more words. Flexible seating will allow choice and more options!
My first grade students are amazing. They come from a variety of places and circumstances. Each kid comes to school every day ready to learn, to work, and most importantly, to grow. The kids are all individuals, which different strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. The one thing they all have in common is that they persevere and continue to amaze me and the world on a daily basis!
My Project
The materials will help with RF1.4 (Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension, RF 1.3 (Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words), and RF 1.2 (Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes)) because students will use the materials to switch out, build, and read new words to improve fluency and comprehension. Levels of fluency and comprehension were greatly impacted due to students not being in the classroom due to Covid precautions. The kids need to build phonemic awareness and fluency skills and then have comfort and flexible places to enjoy reading in the classroom. We need to encourage more reading to have greater success!
