My students are eager to learn and read! From the first day, I knew they were excited to learn and grow together. I have roughly 75 students and each student brings a diverse background into my classroom. Many students have told me they want to be scientists, engineers, or doctors! My students are very creative and have enjoyed many of our assignments so far. Many of my students also enjoy reading books from the classroom library and love checking out books to take home.
My Project
Comfortable seating and diverse books are two things my classroom desperately needs. By providing more flexible seating options, my students are able to be comfortable during instructional times which increases engagement and focus.
Most of my library books have been passed down to me and don't truly represent the diversity that exists within my classroom.
I want each of my students to be able to check out books in my library that showcase people who look like them. This semester we will be doing ISR (Independent Sustained Reading) and by having more diverse books, my students will be able to find books that are more relevant to them.
