Help me give my students flexible seating choices! This will support them the opportunity to use their energy during class without distracting their classmates. I can picture students getting comfy on the sofa with their favorite book!
I am an early childhood special education teacher. Students in my class have a wide range of disabilities and varying needs. They receive support services (speech, occupational, physical therapy and/or counseling). Each year I have a new opportunity to support these young minds and support their emotional, developmental, and educational needs.
I cannot wait to meet my 12 amazing students in September!
We start the year off as strangers and become a family by the end of they year. I look forward to working hard with students pushing them and they push me to be the best teacher. I love getting to know each child. We laugh, cry, and have fun together!
My Project
Flexible seating choices will give students the opportunity to chose the seating that works best for them. Students are give the autonomy to choose a location during independent work times. Allowing students to feel comfortable in the classroom limits distractions in the classroom.
The choice of materials selected for this project were intended to make the classroom feel more like home and with students needs in mind.
The balance balls and disks will support my learners who have difficulty sitting still and the sofa is a cozy place for a good book!! These materials will support my learners during reading, writing, and math. Allowing students to make a choice and get the ants out of their pants in an appropriate way will help them complete tasks.
