My students are eager to learn and explore. They enjoy moving about and engaging in the different work stations throughout the classroom. Lots of hands-on learning can be seen when you enter our classroom. Lots of interaction can be heard between students and teachers. Students have plenty of room to explore in our classroom. The classroom is currently set up to provide students with seating on the carpet or at traditional tables and chairs. We need more flexible seating options.
My Project
My project is to provide my students with flexible seating options during work stations. The flexible seating options that I would like to provide for my students include wobble chairs and balance ball seats that can be used with the tables that are currently in my classroom. I would also like to provide students with the opportunity to sit on the floor comfortably with options such as soft seats and floor seats. Finally the lap desks are perfect because they can be used in any work station where the students need an additional writing surface such as the pocket chart work station or the writing station. Providing flexible seating options for my students will not only bring more comfort but will give students a choice when choosing where and how they complete their work. Students will have the freedom to move around as needed which helps students to be more involved in their learning experiences. Students will learn to make these flexible seating options on their own as well as learn how to use and take care of the materials responsibly.
