My Students

My students are an enthusiastic bunch of 9th graders that are passionate about reading and love to learn. They have a multitude of learning styles and I try to incorporate each style into every lesson. When they walk into my classroom ready and excited for learning it makes days spent in the classroom bright and exciting!

My school is a high poverty school in the county and supplies are hard to come by.

To engage my students I create fun, colorful lessons that are hands-on, and we read daily. I create a comfortable learning environment with table lamps and strings of lights around the room.

My Project

I recently received a grant to provide tables for my students. Now I want to give them some comfortable seating options to go with the tables. Allowing the students to choose the type of seating for the day helps to start on the right foot!

Studies have shown that when students are comfortable in the classroom they will become more productive and retain information presented longer.

By providing the students with different seating options I will be setting the stage for learning that matters.

I've had flexible seating in my classroom for almost my entire teaching career and I've seen dramatic differences in my student's learning and behavior.
