This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love doing small group instruction and having students come work with me at my table. It is always the biggest distraction for my class when kids have to bring their chairs over to my table as they maneuver through students and we all have to hear the clinking of the chairs. It’s also the worst when they all gather around and there isn’t enough room because their chairs are so big and bulky that only a few can be with me at a time. Because of those reasons I am asking for flex seating.

Having flex seating in my classroom will help with transiting from whole group to small group instruction.

By having flexible seating options I will be able to keep stools under my table so that when students come over to work with my they don’t have to bring their own chair to come work with me. This will help minimize distraction and maximize instruction.

My students also really love to read in the classroom library corner but I sadly only have one chair. I would love to get more flexible seating options for that area as well so that more than one student can be reading in the area.

Not only do we need flexible seating options but we also do a lot of “flexible” learning. Such as walk the room assignments, partner work on the floor, and work that takes them out of their desks. It’s always a struggle to watch them try to write on the floor as their paper gets very messy and lots of holes. Which is why I would love some clipboards for when the students are taken out of their desks, they will be able to continue their work from out of their desk.
