My Project
This year we are trying to set up a calming space for students to help with calming and mental health. I am requesting this comfy center which will be a new place for students to go when they are feeling overstimulated or need a quiet comfortable place to work. One of my biggest struggles this year is figuring out solutions for students who are triggered by too much noise and activity. Classrooms involve a lot of partner and table talks, hands-on activities, and movement.
For children who need help understanding personal space, and how to feel emotions without acting out destructively, a calm corner or safe space can help them regulate their bodies.
Focusing can be especially difficult for children with ADHD or on the spectrum when the classroom is noisy with lots of movement.
I love this center with soft colors and comfortable seating to help them feel feelings without punching, hitting, or screaming. This would make a great calming space!
