I teach fifth grade at an elementary school in Illinois, where the student population is 79% low-income families, and 47% of the students are English language learners. In order to help my students remain engaged in both their work and discussions and to create their best work it is my responsibility to provide a learning environment that is conducive for my students to meet these goals.
I have a classroom of 25 ten- and eleven-year old dual-language students who need as much support as possible when engaging in collaborative discussions and work.
My students are wonderful people who deserve a fair and equitable education. I need to continue to provide them with opportunities and an engaging and positive learning environment that will help them become their best.
I believe that is necessary to provide a learning environment that is supportive of the diverse needs of my learners. My classroom is one that accommodates individual work, small group work, whole group teaching, peer interactions, and one-on-one instruction.
Because the environment I have created is a flexible one I need to make sure I provide seating options which fit the environment.
While I do have a variety of seating options already, the Learniture Active Learning Stool would complete my classroom by making it easier for my students to move to a space where they can produce their best work.
