This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are full of heart, resilience, curiosity and boundless creativity. They surprise me everyday! I’m a special education teacher in a full inclusion, dual language, inquiry based elementary school in North Philly with the best students in the world!
My Project
Flexible seating will help to facilitate safe collaboration and community following a year and a half of isolation. As a special education teacher in 4 third grade inclusion classrooms, my students will be able to focus and process information more effectively when their sensory needs fulfilled.
After more than a year of distance learning online, where students were able to move around freely and sit in preferred spaces, flexible seating options are more important than ever.
These seating options will give my students agency in their learning, and allow them to manage their sensory input in the classroom.
